Turbo tax creates a unique file, such as "2017 your name 1040 individual Tax Return.tax2017", containing your return that is tied to a unique date version of Turbo tax. To view a 2017 return, you would need a 2017 version of Turbo tax. Other date versions of Turbo tax cannot open your 2017 return except the 2017 version. When you filed the your 2017 return with the state using Turbo tax you were given the opportunity to print and/save your return. Hopefully you took advantage of the opportunity and have the printout or pdf file. If you do not have the printout or pdf file, you must re-install the 2017 version of Turbo tax on your computer.
