Your question is being posted from online Self-Employed. That is a paid version of the software. The fee for using Self-Employed is the same whether you e-file the return or mail it in an envelope. The fee is not for e-filing----it is for using the software to prepare your return. You cannot print and mail a return for free if you used Self-Employed.
If you have self-employment income, you cannot use the Free Edition. Self-employment income requires you to prepare a Schedule C for your business expenses. That is not supported by the Free Edition.
Do you meet the criteria to use one of the free software versions on the IRS site instead?
Use this IRS site for other ways to file for free. There are 8 free software versions available from the IRS Free File site

If you don't want to pay the price for the Online Self Employed version one thing you can do is move your Online file to a lower Desktop program like Deluxe and continue without paying for Online or needing to reenter your info. All the Desktop programs have the same forms. You just get more help and guidance in the higher versions. Plus the Desktop programs have several more features over online.
To continue in the desktop version see this…….
