How do i know if I got the Hope credit or American opportunity credit last year? I am looking at my forms 8863 form from last year, but it doens;t clearly say.

You would not have received the Hope Credit last year because it has not been available for several years. If you got a credit on form 8863, it would have been either the American Opportunity Credit or the Lifetime Learning Credit. Those two credits are clearly separated on form 8863.
