If your dependent was a full-time college student, make sure you were careful on the MY INFO screen for “Uncommon situations” and that you indicated there that they were a student.
Were they 18 years old at the end of 2025? If so, the student check box would not appear as they would still qualify as your dependent even if they weren't a student as long as they lived with you for more than 6 months and did not provide over half of their own support and otherwise qualify as a qualifying child.
If they are over 18, go back to the personal info section and select the pencil next to the one that is not correct. Walk back through and double check the answers. In this section, you will be able to select that they are a student.
That's just it. For this daughter, there wasn't a question about being a student under “Uncommon situations”. There was for my other daughter, hence my confusion. Another person posted an answer that may help answer why. Thank you
Yes, she was still 18 at the end of 2025. So are you saying that even though the Schedule EIC, line 4a, is Unchecked for her being a student, she still "counted" towards my EIC due to her age?
Yes. If she is still 18, it does not matter whether or not she is a student, as long as she meets the other criteria for being your dependent, she still counted towards your EIC due to her age. Once she turns 19 up until she is 24, then the student designation matters.
