If you selected to have your filing fees to be taken out of your refund, then you agree to have your refund processed by a third party bank.
The way it works is that, a third-party bank (SBTPG) opens a temporary account in your name. The IRS sends your refund to that temporary account first, where SBTPG subtracts your tax preparation fees. Once the fees are paid, the remaining balance is forwarded to your personal bank account or debit card via a second direct deposit.
I want TurboTax and SBTPG explain why SBTPG did not do its job. But, both entities have carefully isolated themselves from their customers.
I want them to tell me whether SBTPG failures also affect my federal tax refund (I suspect I'll find out anyway).
SantaBarbaraTPG botched this entire process. TurboTax should be embarrassed by its partnership with SBTPG.
I demand that SBTPG or TruboTax refund the fees I paid for the bungled SBTPG service. I expect TurboTax and SBTPG to ensure that my state tax is NOT deducted from my federal refund because it is already paid as described above.
If this matter is not fully resolved immediately, I will continue to share my SBTPG and TurboTax experience with friends and family.
Review the payment setup that you had when you filed and make certain that everything was set up the way that you anticipated. And then make sure to track your federal refund and make sure that it has not been adjusted by the IRS.
Here is information on how to review the tax payment and refund information you set up in TurboTax.
Here is the IRS' refund tracking tool.
Why did I pay intuit $85 for their tax software that includes efile, only to be charged an additional $55 by something called SBTPG to efile at the end? Where is the value added? I’ve been using Turbo Tax many years, but I’m sorry to say their relationship with SBTPG has left a bad taste in my mouth. Good riddance to TurboTax!!!!!!
