How do I get my American rescue plan?

I already filed my taxes a few days ago and just now received a letter from the IRS saying I qualify for the American Rescue Plan

The letter should tell you which program it is saying you qualify for, or it could be a scam.

What else does this letter say?

Hi, it says that the IRS issued me the 2021 economic impact payment and that if I didn’t receive the above amount any I should file a 2021 federal income tax return (which I did and it said I was not eligible for it but I checked the requirements and I should’ve been)

Go back through the stimulus questions and make sure you indicate that you did not receive the payment (but only if you did not receive it).    Search for stimulus and use the Jump to link to get back there.  Then review your answers.   Make sure you have a valid social security number entered and also, you can't be claimed as a dependent on another return.  If you are claimed by someone, they claim your economic impact (3rd stimulus check) payment.

Generally, if you’re a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident alien, you are eligible for $1,400 ($2,800  for a joint return), plus $1,400 for each qualifying dependent, if you (and your spouse if filing a joint return) aren’t a dependent of another taxpayer on a 2020 tax return, have a valid Social Security number (SSN) (see exception when married filing jointly and exception for qualified dependents) and your adjusted gross income (AGI) does not exceed:

  • $150,000 if married and filing a joint return or if filing as a qualifying widow or widower
  • $112,500 if filing as head of household or
  • $75,000 for eligible individuals using any other filing statuses, such as single filers and married people filing separate returns.
