Did you file tax returns for those years? If you filed----did you pay your tax due? Or do you still owe? Software is no longer available from TurboTax any father back than tax year 2022.
You may need to seek local paid tax help to sort out what you might owe for the years since 2020. Any refunds for 2020, 2021 or 2022 have been forfeited. If you owe tax due for those years it is owed with late penalties and interest.
Do you have all of the documents you will need to enter and show your income—like your W-2’s and any 1099’s?
To find out the amount of taxes owed for the years 2020 through 2023:
1. Review Your Tax Returns: Look at your filed tax returns for each year. They show calculated tax, payments made, and any remaining balance.
2. Check IRS Account Transcript: The IRS provides an online account transcript showing tax balances, payments, penalties, and interest for each year.
3. Use TurboTax Records: If you used TurboTax, open your tax returns in the software for those years to see tax calculations and payments.
4. Review IRS Notices: Any IRS notices or letters you received can inform about taxes owed, penalties, or adjustments.
5. Consider Penalties and Interest: Taxes owed might include penalties and interest for late payments or underpayment.
6. Estimate Using Form 1040: Your Form 1040 tax returns summarize taxes owed or refunded each year.
These steps help you get a clear picture of taxes owed from 2020 to 2023.
