How do I find my missing 2018 Turbo tax files

I didn't file my 2018 return but completed all my forms. How do I access these files ?

How do I find my missing 2018 Turbo tax files

 Online preparation and e-filing for 2018 is permanently closed.  If you still have data to enter to your 2018 return, you have to download 2018 software to a full PC or Mac (not to a mobile device) and then print, sign and mail your return.  If you already paid for your TurboTax software, you can contact customer support to push a download of the software to you.

When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s.  Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS and/or your state received the return.

MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS/account recovery

 

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax?  If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

You cannot e-file now.  The return has to be printed, signed and mailed.

How do I find my missing 2018 Turbo tax files

I filed my 2018 Taxes with Turbo Tax, i was just told today that they were never received.  i need to locate and file.

 

Also my 2017 1040X, 8962, and 1095A for 2017 was not completely filed.  I'm in a mess.  i have been using Turbo Tax for some years now.

To access your current or prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show.  Click on the 2018

What is the status of the tax return?  If it is anything but Accepted then it was never e-filed.  

If you did not print and mail the federal tax return then the return was never filed.

 

Click on Download/print return (PDF)

A 2018 tax return can only be printed and mailed, it cannot be e-filed.

Print, sign, date and mail the tax return to the IRS.  Include with the mailed return any forms W-2 and 1099 which have taxes withheld.  Go to this IRS website for mailing addresses - https://www.irs.gov/filing/where-to-file-paper-tax-returns-with-or-without-a-payment

There are no penalties for filing a tax return after the due date if filing for a tax refund or there are no taxes owed.

You have to sign onto your online account using the exact same user ID you used to create the online account.

Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one).  Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.

Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the user ID's for an email address.  Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery

If none of the user ID's received will access your account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"

 

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

 

If you still cannot access your account, you can contact TurboTax customer service/support through their contact website during business hours.
