How do I find a PDF of my federal return? I can download a PDF for my state return, but I'm only seeing a .tax file for federal, which I don't have an app to read.

Is there a way to convert a .tax document to PDF? Or with what app can I view/read a .tax document?

If you have a .tax or .tax20xx file you need that year's Desktop program installed to open it.

Turbo Tax doesn't have programs older than 3 years.  You might be able to find one on Ebay or Amazon or somewhere but you wouldn't be able to update it or download the state program.

If this is for the 2019 tax year and the PDF you can download now ONLY has the state then you will simply need to wait until December when the online service opens up ... the 2019 returns are being archived and sometimes the full PDF is not currently available.  Going forward  ... before the online system closes on 10/15 remember to save a PDF with and without the worksheets so you always have a copy on hand.
