How do I file an amended 2025 return (Federal and State) through TurboTax?

I need to amend my 2025 returns as I left off a 1099-R. I tried filing an amended return but it was rejected. I followed the steps to fix the return, but it was again rejected. Both my initial 2025 federal and state (Georgia) returns have been processed and I have received refunds from both.

To see what is causing your return to be rejected and find out how to fix it:

1. Sign in to your account
2. Select the Fix my return button
   • Follow any “fix it” instructions to update the information causing the rejection.

There are also some returns that are not able to be filed due to a processing error that will be corrected on March 6, 2026. If this is your case, after this date, open the rejected return, review it for errors, and resubmit the return for electronic filing.

I spoke with a TurboTax expert who confirmed that I would need to wait until after March 6 to file an amended return. She also confirmed I would need to file an amended state (GA) return by mail.  I will refile the amended federal return after March 6 and report back if the issue has been resolved.
