How do I change my tax returns from Mail to Direct Deposit

Did you already e-file? If you did NOT e-file you can go to the FILE section and change how you want to receive your refund. If you want direct deposit you need the routing number and your own account number.

You cannot change banking information while your return is in pending, nor can you change it after the return is accepted. The IRS does not allow it.

Or does it say Ready to Mail? That means you didn't efile but need to print out your return and mail it to the IRS yourself. Or you can change it to efile.

Or did you efile? Was it Accepted? When you efile you get back 2 emails. The first email only confirms the transmission. The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your efile. And check your spam folder for them.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc. What does it say?
