How do I change my answer on box 6a? I am being claimed by another taxpayer? I am NOT using the online TT version.

I am using the disc version of TT. How do I UNcheck box 6a (which I apparently checked erroneously or the program assumed the exemption without asking me)? The program does not ask the question in the step-by-step method and does not allow me to change it directly on the form.

Go back to Personal Info and check your answers for being a dependent.

The disc program doesn't let you do that. I'm guessing it must have asked that question the first time through but after the return is done it doesn't allow me to go back and change it.

One of the reasons I've always used the disc version is that it allows changes to be entered directly onto the forms. But in this case that particular change is not highlighted in yellow....and only the highlighted lines and boxes can be changed directly on the forms.

What am I missing?

Click on Personal Info

Edit Your Name

Continue to the screen Do Any of These Apply to (Your Name)?

Uncheck the box labeled Someone else can claim (Your Name) on their tax return and continue with the section until it completes.

If you filed your return and it was accepted then you have to amend the 2018 tax return to change your dependency.
