So sorry for your loss. You do not enter a dependent's income on your own tax return. The criteria for claiming them is they must have had less than $5200 of income not including Social Security. If they had more than $5200 of income (from working, pensions, IRS's 401k's etc etc) you cannot claim them.
If your parent meets the criteria to be claimed as a qualified relative, you get the $500 credit of other dependents. Enter a dependent in MY INFO.

THank you! She had under that amount of income. However, this does not count social security of $8600 that is not taxable? Does that count towards the $5,200?
The SS does not count toward the $5200 limit. You must be able to say that you paid over half of their support.
