Not sure what you mean but if you do NOT have a copy of the W-2 in hand yet do NOT NOT NOT file any return as the info from your pay stub and W-2 usually will not match AND the IRS has not posted when they will start accepting efiled returns AND until your employer files the W-3 the IRS will not process your return ... it will be on hold until they can verify the information ... SO filing before you get the W-2 form is not WISE at all. Last year many early birds had their returns hung up for months due to their haste.
Employers are required to provide a 2019 W-2 on or before January 31, 2020.
Importing a W-2 will be available through the TurboTax partners later in January.
Filing early only means your tax return will be sitting on the TurboTax servers waiting for the IRS to pull the returns sometime in late January. Once a tax return has been e-filed it cannot be canceled or retrieved to make any changes.
