If you are still getting an error, it would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2023" file that is experiencing this issue.
You can send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information. If you would like to do this, here are the instructions: Go to the black panel on the left side of your program and select Tax Tools.
Here are the instructions if you are using TurboTax CD/Download:
We will then be able to see exactly what you are seeing and we can determine what exactly is going on in your return and provide you with a resolution.
I had 2 errors in my Iowa 1040. Both in Schedule 1. The first was in Schedule 1, line 15. Turbotax was deducting the self employed insurance when it wasn't supposed to. This error has now been corrected with the last update I received.
The second error is in Schedule 1, line 18. Turbotax is deducting all the tax paid in 2023 for the year 2022, when it should only be deducting the income tax portion ( and not the Self employment tax.)
I realize that Iowa made a large change in their tax structure this year, but these 2 things are clearly spelled out in the expanded instructions available on the Iowa tax website. As a farmer who needs to file by March 1, this has shaken my confidence in Turbotax.
How to go to the Nondeductible IRAs Form 8606? Thanks.
Joseph
In the federal deductions and credits section, locate retirement and investments, select IRA contributions. Go through the questions and when the program asks Any Nondeductible Contributions to Your IRA? select Yes to enter your 8606 information.
