How can I open a saved PDF version on my MAC into Turbo tax. I prepared the 2016 return but it does not show up under recent returns.

You cannot "open" a PDF file in TurboTax. The PDF file is simply a digital copy of the printed version of your tax return. 

If you want to open your tax return on your Mac or transfer your return to a different computer, you need to locate the ".tax" file. This is the working copy of your return. You can locate this file by performing a search in Finder.
