@nancyaurora The 2019 tax data file can only be opened by the 2019 TurboTax software. You should copy the data file from the USB drive to the computer hard drive so the software can access the file without errors.
After starting the TurboTax program click on the File menu in the upper left corner. Click on Open Tax Return. Browse to the location of the data file.
There will be multiple worksheets for income reported in the prior year PDF.
To access your prior year online tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the User ID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the section Your tax returns & documents click on Show. Click on the Year and Click on Download/print return (PDF)
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
Thank you. I did used the CD Turbotax for my previous tax returns. I don't normally keep my tax returns (.taxfile, pdf) on my hardrive but keep them in a USB for security reasons. Do I then put the USB where my 2019 tax is kept (that's the tax year I need the info) in my computer and access it using the 2019 Turbo tax software so I can review/get the details I want? As you know, the income tax returns filed show totals and I am interested in the details comprising the totals I have reported (specifically income). Thanks.
