How can I change the tax year on my return?

Please place that in  some context with some details so we can figure out what you mean, and if it's something that can be done or not.  What tax years are you referring to?   What tax year do you want to prepare?  What did you do, and what is it you need to do?   What product were/are you using?

You need to use the program for the correct year.  You cant just change the year on a prepared return.

If you are trying to change your tax return from 2017 to 2018, you can't.  You must buy the software for that tax year.  Each year you must buy the software, you cannot use 2017 software to file a 2018 return.
