How can I change a finished tax return? I don't need to amend since I haven't filed, but there's no option in Turbo Tax to change the "completed return"

My wife discovered a substantial charitable contribution that I want to add but Turbo Tax doesn't allow me to adjust the unfiled return

If you have NOT e-filed yet---you can get back in and make changes by clicking on Add a State.  You do not have to really add a state return, but that trick will let you back in to make additions or changes before you e-file.

If you tried to e-file and received a rejection, you can change your return with xmasbaby0's method.  As long as you haven't e-filed yet you can change your return information with the following process.

In TurboTax Online you can follow these steps:

1. Log in to your TurboTax Online account
2. On the Hi XXX, Let's keep working on your taxes! screen, click Deductions & Credits then click Review/Edit
3. Scroll down to Charitable Donations and click Show more
4. Enter your donation information as it applies then click Review in the black menu bar on the left

To change your return in TurboTax Desktop you can follow these steps:

1. Open your TurboTax Desktop program and open your return file
2. Click the Federal Taxes tab and Deductions & Credits
3. Select I'll choose what I work on
4. Scroll down to Charitable Donations
5. Enter your donation information as it applies then click the Review tab at the top
