You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it. It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.
If your return is accepted, then Mom's return will be rejected if she has not filed yet. She will have to print, sign and mail her own return. You will have to amend your return AFTER it has been fully processed--not yet. Mom does not have to wait for you to amend. Your SSN is in the system for this year now and she will only be able to paper file this year. She can still claim you but cannot e-file.
Hi, I am having the same problem. I'm confused on when to mail my mom's return. Do I have to amil it in with my amended return (which won't be ready until the 20th) or can I mail in her paper return with her claiming me today? Also, what do I have to include with her return?

READ the answer above your post from @xmasbaby0 It tells you exactly how to proceed with her tax return and your tax return.
No, if you have filed your tax return and then discover that you have an error to correct you will have to wait until the IRS either accepts or rejects your tax return.
If the return is rejected you will correct the error that caused the rejection, and refile your return.
If the return was accepted by the IRS then you will have to file an amended tax return using Form 1040X to correct the error to your tax return.
This link to the TurboTax Help page How to amend (change or correct) a return you already filed provides information on how to amend your tax return.
Thanks! But can I send my mom's return that claims me as a dependent out ASAP? And do I need to include anything with her return besides the return and W2?
