Hi, I paid my taxes and then realized I needed to amend my return. Instructions say I have to mail in a form with my payment, but I already paid, what do I do?

The amendment instructions say I have to mail in the Form 1040-V Payment Voucher with my payment, but I already paid my taxes when I filed my initial return.

Ignore the payment voucher that prints out with the 1040X. We don't know why that prints. You just include a check when you mail the 1040X. The voucher is for what your original 1040 return would have been if you had done it right including these changes.  If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.

Thank you for your response.  I actually e-filed the amendment; however, I had paid my tax bill with my initial return.  I submitted my amended return after having paid the first time.  After the amendment, the IRS owes me $33.  Do I still have to mail something in, even if I e-filed?
