Wait for a letter from the IRS. They do not notify TT, but perhaps their records indicate that you had already been sent the stimulus. How many dollars did they adjust?
We marked that we'd received the stimulus payments, but we went from 6017 to 3817
The IRS site is confusing ... the only thing on that "list of possibilities" that applies to you is the last one ... they corrected your "math error" which is what the IRS refers to when you have the wrong amount on line 30 of the form 1040.
So the change is $2200. Did you enter the correct amount of stimulus you got in advance in the program ? If you got it all the line 30 should be zero or blank.
Note- None of this is accurate lol. We do not make over 50K let alone more than that! Same kiddos as always, no change there, said that we got that stimmy, etc. Line 30 is "50"?
Line 30 is $50 ? Please save a PDF of your return and review the stimulus credit worksheet to see just what you entered and how line 30 was calculated. Once the IRS notice gets to you if you still cannot figure out the situation you can call the IRS for assistance.
They reduced your refund by 2200 and you have 2200 on line 30. That could be both Stimulus payments for 2 children. 500+500+600+600. They may have disallowed 2 Children or they turned 17 or you didn't enter the full amounts of each Stimulus you got.
you can dispute in writing with the IRS, but you'd better have good documentation to back it up.
Yes ... could be for the kids. In the TT program you were asked how much you got in advance and they meant for you, your spouse and the kids combined. If you did not enter the entire amount received then the "math" was wrong on the return and the IRS is making the correction automatically.
Thats crazy how I got the EXACT same notice. Every line in the exact order...
It's called boilerplate, or a canned message.
aka generic message.
@Smanders That is a list of the generic reasons why they adjusted the Recovery Rebate Credit on your return. See this IRS article
