If the account number for the direct deposit of your federal tax refund was incorrect then the bank would have rejected the deposit and would have sent the refund back to the IRS. The IRS would then mail the refund as a check to the address on the tax return.
When did you file your 2023 tax return?
Did you select the option to have your TurboTax fees taken out of your federal tax refund?
Check the status of your refund using Where's My Refund? on the IRS web site. What does it say?
If the account number that you entered on your tax return is a valid account, but not your account, your refund may have been deposited into the account that you specified. Some banks check the name on the account, but many don't. If that's what happened, neither the IRS nor the bank is at fault. They followed your instructions.
If the IRS has not yet issued your refund, you might be able to stop the direct deposit by calling the IRS at 800-829-1040. They will then mail a check to you.
