What do you mean, tax returns for 2017? Do you mean W-2s and other tax documents? You have one tax return, it is a "return of information" to the IRS about your income and the tax you owe.
There is no deadline to file an amended return, although there may be a deadline to use the free online software.
To correct your 2017 return, you will need to install Turbotax on your own Mac or PC, and download your original tax data file from 2017. Open your data file and choose "amend" from the list of things you can do. Add or correct your information, print the return, sign it and mail it the IRS. Also print and mail your state return if that is also changed.
Then for 2018, wait and see if is accepted or rejected by the IRS. If it is rejected, you get a mulligan. It was never filed so you can change or correct it and then file again. This is not an amendment, it is still an original return. If your 2018 return is accepted, but you used 2017 income information, wait until any refund is paid. The 2018 amending program won't be ready until March. Then prepare and file the amended 2018 return using your correct information.
