If you had insurance through healthcare.gov or your state's health insurance marketplace, you must wait until you receive your Form 1095-A before filing your return. The form should be mailed to you by mid-February. If you have an online account at healthcare.gov, you may be able to retrieve the form as a PDF file (portable document format).
For other types of health insurance, such as employer-sponsored health insurance, you may receive a Form 1095-B or 1095-C. While these forms aren't needed to file your return, you should store them with your tax records.
