For my CA, I am printing my voucher and writing a check for the payment. Do I also need to include a hard copy of my Federal 1040 return?

No, if you e-filed your return and trying to pay your balance due then all you need to send is the voucher and check.

 

Please make sure you write your SSN and tax year on your payment.

Please see FTB Check, money order, cashier’s check for additional information.
