Filed as normal and submitted. I just received an updated w2 with lower amounts in most wage categories. It won’t let me amend, what should I do. IRS sent letter.

IRS sent a letter that they’re looking into it. I was honest but old employer sent the wrong form. What should I do

The Form 1040-X for amending 2023 tax return will be available on 02/15/2024

If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

Wow, thank you. If I submitted electronically do I resubmit electronically? My old employer messed up, I received a letter today from IRS they’re looking at it and from employer they have re submitted my updated forms. Another screwed me up as it directly linked to account. I’m a rookie at this whole process. Feel in trouble though it was sent originally with proper form I received
