Hello, I am beyond confused. The IRS adjusted my Federal refund down from $5856 to $1976 (-$3880). They won't answer my questions and give some generic high level BS answer stating that I made an error in one or more of the following:
"- The social security number of one or more individuals claimed as qualifying dependents was missing or incomplete.
- The last name of one or more individuals claimed as qualifying dependent does not match our records.
- One or more individuals claimed as qualifying dependent exceeds the age limit.
- Your adjusted gross income exceeds $75,000 ($150,000 if married filing jointly, $112,500 if head of household)
- The amount was computed incorrectly."
I have reviewed my Turbotax submission and do not believe such an error occurred.
Help please, Brent [phone number removed]

That is one of the list of generic reasons they give if they changed the Recovery rebate credit on line 30. How much is on 1040 line 30?
Did you receive the full amount for both the first 2 Stimulus payments? Better check your 1040 line 30 and see if an amount is listed. That's been a common problem. You might have answered the Stimulus questions wrong and tried to claim it again or some more on line 30. So the IRS took it off because you already got it. They know they sent it to you.
Very helpful. We received our last stimulus two months after filing our taxes and didn't realize it (just saw it). Thanks for the guidance.
By last stimulus do you mean the second round for 2020 or the latest 3rd one for 2021? The new 3rd one is $1,400 per person and is not part of your 2020 return.
The 2nd round was for $600 per person and came between Dec and March 2021. It could have come after you filed 2020. How many people do you have on your return? Like 6? 3800 is about $3,600 (6 x 600)
