Did try to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on line 30 of Form 1040?

If you received Notice 1444 in the mail but have not received your payment as mentioned in the notice, then you need to request a trace to be able claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 tax return. Please see How do I request a payment trace to track my first or second Economic Impact Payments?

Never received a 1444 or 1444-B We did receive a rebate

Do we need to file an amended claim? That’s the bottom line.

DO NOT file an amended tax return with the IRS.

If you made a mistake in calculating the amount, the IRS will calculate the correct amount of the Recovery Rebate Credit, make the correction to your tax return and continue processing your return. If a correction is needed, there may be a slight delay in processing your return and the IRS will send you a notice explaining any change made.
