E-filed tax return however TurboTax still shows as not e-filed

Hello,

I e-filed my 2020 taxes back in Oct 2021 before the extension deadline and received the two emails from TurboTax, one saying that it was transmitted and another one saying it was accepted. I've also received my refund so I know everything has gone through.

I realized now that I needed to amend that return. When I go to TurboTax 2020 to amend it, the status shows "Not Printed or E-filed" which is obviously wrong. I click continue and check status within TurboTax and it comes back again saying the return has not been e-filed.

Obviously this is causing an issue now because if TurboTax doesn't recognize that I E-filed it (with TurboTax!) to begin with, it won't let me e-file the amended return.

Is there a workaround for this?

Can you please clarify, you are not able to amend your return in your 2020 TurboTax software? 

For information on amending your 2020 tax return, please see the instructions in this help article: How do I amend my 2020 return? Please note, you will not be able to e-file a 2020 amended return, you'll need to paper file it since TurboTax doesn't currently support e-filing an amended prior-year return.

Yes, I am using the 2020 software to amend it. I thought I read somewhere that you could in fact e-file your amended return, and that this was new as of Aug 2020.

No, using the TurboTax personal tax preparation software you can only e-file the current tax year 2021 amended tax return.  All prior year amended returns must be printed and mailed.
