Do I need to initiate a refund for paying over the maximum Medicare tax? I had two W-2 jobs in 2022 and paid the max for each so I think I would be entitled to a refund?

If you are entitled to a SS tax refund AND if your two employers have different EINs on your W-2s, then TurboTax will automatically calculate the excess and put it on line 11 of Schedule 3 (1040). This will apply your refund to the tax assessed or to your refund without you having to do anything else.

There is no max for Medicare in W2 box 6.  Did you go over the max for Social Security in box 4?

If you had more than 1 employer and paid more than $9,114.00 in Social Security tax (box 4) combined you get the excess back on your tax return.

Thank you, Volvogirl, for catching that.
