Do I need to amend my tax return if my return got accepted and I added in another form afterwards?

I e-filed my tax return, but I forgot to include my 8936 form. My return got accepted but I was also able to add in my 8936 form. I can see that the form now exists in my summary PDF, the form they have you view before closing, but not the PDF under the year you submitted, the "print or download documents" option.

If your return was accepted, and you added information afterwards, it was not transmitted to the IRS. You'll need to prepare an amended return, which is not yet available. Use this tool to check availability of forms, including the amended federal tax return, Form1040X: Tax form availability

Thank you for the information. Just to confirm, where can I view the forms that were submitted to the IRS on TurboTax? I mentioned I had two separate PDFs showing different forms, so I want to confirm which exact forms the IRS has in their possession.

It may be hard to do but what you need to do in order to be sure that you are viewing the correct forms is go back into your file and delete everything that you did AFTER you filed the tax return.  You're going to need to do this in order to amend the return anyway.

By making those changes you may have changed the forms that you sent to the IRS so you will have trouble seeing what they see.

Once you have deleted all of the changes that you made you will be able to look at the forms and you will also be ready to amend your return when the amendments are available.
