Do I need to amend my 2017 taxes to input a carry over fund that I did not put from a 2016 adoption credit? If so how?

Yes, you need to amend your 2017 return if you qualify and wish to claim the carry over part of the adoption credit. Please see the following instructions on how to amend your 2017 return.

1.      Click on the Search box and type Adoption credit.

2.      Click on Jump to

3.      TurboTax will walk you through the questions.

4.      Answer yes to Did you file Form 8839 in a prior year.

5.      Continue answering questions.

6.      Click Done on Here's your adoptive child info page

7.      Let us know if you have an adoption credit carryforward from prior years should be the next screen (see picture below)

I followed the instructions to amend my 2017 taxes but, I don't see where I am able to input the carry over amount for adoption credit.
