Enter the 1099-MISC exactly as printed. Then enter your "expenses" against that income.

Thanks that makes sense. If there a way to report this as an expense without upgrading to turbotax self-employed (for $115)? There doesn't seem to be.

Nope. With the online version, you have to use the SE version to claim even one penny of expenses against business income.
