I  have a code 570 on my 2025 transcript with a processing date 5/25/26. What does this mean?

Code 570 on your IRS transcript means your refund is on hold while the IRS reviews something on your return. It does not mean you did anything wrong; it just means they need more time before they can finish processing it. The date of 5/25/26 is the projected date by which the IRS expects to take the next action on your account. That's when the transcript should be updated with the next action code.

Common reasons for a Code 570 hold include identity verification, a discrepancy between your return and information reported by employers or other payers, an unfiled prior year return, or a balance owed from a previous year. If the IRS does need something from you, they will mail you a notice (such as a CP05 or Letter 4464C) explaining what it is.

For now, the best thing to do is wait until after 5/25/26. If nothing changes after that date and you haven't received a notice, you can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040. You can also check your refund status at IRS Where's My Refund or through the IRS2Go app.
