TurboTax is strong arming its customers to pay for their filing services before they are due. I agreed to have the cost of their product and filing from my tax refund of over $3000.00. Plenty of money available to pay the cost of the tax return and E filing of my 2020 taxes.
Intuit is threatening to do an ACH from my bank account if not payed. They make it easy and push for you to pay this on line immediately (so they get their fees early). A few lines below in vague language they state that if you fail to pay the filing fee by a certain date from your refund they will do it with an ACH.
Mine is not due until 10 March if my Federal Tax refund (filed in Feb 2021) is not complete and placed in my checking account.
My opinion (not fact checked) is that Intuit (turbotax) is attempting to increase their cash flow by using this strategy. I use turbotax each year. It has quirks but saves me time and effort. But every year they have trouble with payments, tax rules, updates and instructions filling in the forms.
