Change refund from direct deposit to applying to next year's taxes

For my 2020 tax year's return, I had a refund due to me. I chose to apply part of the refund to my 2021 estimated taxes, and have the remaining balance of the refund direct deposited.

My eFiling status is "Accepted," but after almost 9 months my refund has not been processed. The IRS refund status page still says "We have received your tax return and it is being processed."

Is there a way to change my refund method so that all of it is applied to my 2021 tax year?

No.  You cannot change how you want to receive your 2020 refund after filing the return.

An answer by TurboTax indicates that after filing your return, you can change your refund method from applying to next year's taxes to getting a check refund:

Unfortunately, I want to do the reverse: change from receiving a refund to applying it to the next tax year.

Sorry ... as you see what you want is no possible and I would wait to file the  2021 return until the 2020 has fully processed if possible.
