Please be aware that the Recovery Rebate Credit from line 30 was included in your total refund on line 34 of Form 1040.
If you got a lower refund then shown then the IRS might have different records about your stimulus payment received.
If you received Notice 1444 in the mail but have not received your payment as mentioned in the notice, then you need to request a trace to be able to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 tax return. Please see How do I request a payment trace to track my first or second Economic Impact Payments?
Also, you can call 1-800-304-3107 to find out if you had an offset that affected your tax refund. Please see Treasury Offset Program for additional information.

Well neither happened. i didnt owe anything and it also didnt increase my refund.
Look at your federal tax return Form 1040 Line 30 and the refund amount on Line 34. The amount from Line 30 is included in your total tax payments on Line 33. Your tax refund on Line 34 is the difference between Line 33 and Line 24.

Turbo tax didn't include the recovery rebate in my total. They only stated tax refund on line 34 and put the recovery rebate credit on line 30 of my 1040.
I will request a payment trace to track the missing EIP and I do not have an offset too.
This is helpful. Thank you.

If there is a Recovery Rebate Credit on the Form 1040 Line 30, that credit is either included in your federal tax refund or it reduces the amount for federal taxes owed.
Well neither happened. i didnt owe anything and it also didnt increase my refund.
But on your tax return, did you have a Refund on line 35 or a Tax Due on line 37? The Rebate Credit on line 30 is already included in one of those lines. It doesn't come separately.

I had a refund due on line 35. the refund amount i tracked before i got to the recovery rebate section didnt change after i inputed what my family got for both EIPs.
Ok, it showed up on line 32 again as a refundable credit and then was added to the total payments on line 33.
This was extremely helpful. Walking me through the way you did. Thank you.
