Can my son file his tax returns if I claim him on my tax returns?

Yes, your son can file a return, but he will need to indicate that he can be claimed by someone else as a dependent, if you are claiming his as a dependent on your return. 

To indicate that he can be claimed by someone else as a dependent in his return you will need to do the following:

1. Log in to TurboTax Online
2. Click on Take me to my return
3. Once in your return, click Personal Info
4. Locate his name and click the Edit button next to his name   
5. On the following screen, near the bottom you will choose Someone will claim me in 2016 and click Continue.
