Sometimes people get confused by the “summary” given by TurboTax and use the wrong amount for the federal refund. Make sure you are only using the federal refund amount, and not an amount that combined your federal and state refunds.
Your federal refund amount is on line 35a of your Form 1040
Make sure you are entering the correct Federal refund amount and not the combined Federal and State refund. Also make sure you are entering your full federal refund amount, not the amount you would get if you had fees taken out.
Thanks so much! As life would have it, my refund showed up the next day. However, it was $2,000 less than what was expected. I got a new high efficiency heat pump last year that promised a $2,000 tax credit, maybe the IRS didn’t like it? I haven’t received any communication from them.
It's possible.
Another thought could be that your refund was offset.
The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts. You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.
The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.
