Can i still file my tax returns if i have not yet recieved my newborn sons SSN?

Was the child born on or before 12/31/2017?  If so, to claim the child as a dependent they must have a SSN.  If you have applied for the SSN then just wait for it to arrive.

Or if you want to file now, then you will have to leave the child off the tax return as a dependent.  Then when the SSN arrives you will have to file an amended tax return to add the child as a dependent.  An amended tax return can only be printed and mailed by you to the IRS, it cannot be e-filed.  The IRS will take from 3 to 4 months to process the amended tax return.
