If you have already filed and your tax return was rejected then you can refile. If your return was accepted, then you will need to wait until that return is processed. Once processed, you can amend the original return (it is not refiled).

"If you have already filed and your tax return was rejected then you can refile."

How?

I need to redo all W2 and replace with 4852s on my 2018 return that was rejected

Yes @sdsvlw, if your return was rejected, then you can just edit your W-2s. Please follow the instructions here, How do I file a substitute W-2 using Form 4852?

@Kaylasuetrimble  You are adding on to an old thread, which makes it very confusing for those who are trying to help.

Please explain exactly what you are trying to do.  What do you mean by "re-file?"  Have you already filed a 2018 tax return?  Or is this about some other tax year?

I think my 2018 filing is wrong and want to refile.

My critical comments on your poor service have disappeared.  Not surprising

@gcasey, if you already filed your 2018 tax return and you want to make corrections, you'll need to file an amended return. Here is a link with instructions on how to do that: https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-to-amend-change-or-correct-a-return-you-already-filed/00/25588

@Levymaui Was it rejected?  Tell us word for word what the rejection message says.

If your return was rejected, see this FAQ on How to fix your rejected return!

If you need to make changes after you have filed and your return has been accepted by the IRS, see this Turbo Tax FAQ regarding How to amend your return.

My e-mail from TurboTax says my return was accepted, but the IRS does not have it. Taxes were filed 2/15/2021.

No, you cannot refile your taxes. They would be rejected because the social security number has already been submitted. The only thing to do is wait.

For more information, see: What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?

Sorry to be dense, but The IRS Does not recognize that I have filed my taxes.  I have logged onto the IRS site, and they have no record of my filing from 2/15/2021. If no one has my return, I need to file it.

If Turbo Tax shows accepted then the IRS got it.  The IRS Where's my refund lookup doesn't work very good.  It is overloaded and isn't showing some returns.  People have received their refunds and it never showed up there.

@Ismail610

Did you click that big orange button that said “Transmit my return now?”  If you did that, you cannot do anything to fix it yet.  You have to wait for the email that tells you if your return was accepted or rejected. Those emails will not start coming in until the IRS begins to accept/reject e-files in late January.   If you do not see an email, check your spam folder.

You cannot change or add anything on the return that you just e-filed, nor can you stop it.  It is too late, just like when you put an envelope in a US mailbox on the corner.

If you left out a W-2, a 1099G, or a dependent, or a 1099 etc…DO NOT change your return while it is “pending.”  The changes will go nowhere.

Now you have to wait until the IRS either rejects or accepts your return.  If your return is rejected, you will be able to go into your account and make the necessary changes to your tax return and re-submit your return.

If the IRS accepts your return, however, then you have to wait longer until it has been fully processed and you have received your refund.  THEN you can prepare an amended tax return and e-file or mail  it in. You have to be able to work from that return exactly the way it was when it was e-filed originally.  You will need to use a form called a 1040X.

Meanwhile, DO NOT go in and start changing anything on your return in the system, or you will make a mess for yourself.  Sit tight and wait until you see what the IRS does with the return you just e-filed
