Can I have my return direct deposited into my boyfriends bank account?

It is not recommended to have your refund sent to someone else's bank account if your name is not on that account. The bank will reject the refund and it will be sent back to IRS. They will have to re-process the refund, cut a check, and send it by mail. It'll take longer than it would have taken had you requested a check refund initially.

No.  If you try to have your refund deposited into an account that is not in your own name, the bank will reject it.  Then will go back to the IRS.  The IRS will then issue a paper check and mail it to the address on your tax return.  In other words, your tax refund will be delayed for weeks if you ask to put it in your BF's account.

We do not recommend depositing your refund into an account that does not include your name.  For more details on this, please see the Help Article here.
