That is a bad idea. The bank is not supposed to accept deposits for someone who is not on the account. So they reject it and send it back to the IRS. Then the IRS issues a check and mails it to. the address on your tax return. All of that makes it take weeks longer.
It would be better to just have a check mailed to you in the first place, or to open a bank account of your own, or to choose the card the refund can be put on.

First, most banks will reject the deposit if the name on the check is not the same as the name of the bank account owner.
Second, if it does go through and then your family member decides not to give you the money, the IRS will do nothing for you, since they put the money where you told them.
You may be able to get your refund on a prepaid debit card (possibly a fee will be charged) or you can get a check, if you don't have or don't want to use your own bank account.
