Can I get some help disputing a notice I received from the IRS stating that I am not eligible to receive the child tax credit when in fact I am eligible?

The notice from IRS says I have an error on Schedule 8812.  I have been over this in my own calculations and with the TurboTax software of which both say I get to claim the credit.  I guess my question is what is the "not to exceed" amount which would prevent being able to get the credit.
