A friend needs to amend her tax return to include a K 1 statement she just received. Her accountant, who filed the original return, is currently unavailable, and we don’t know which tax software he used. Is it possible for me to help her file an amended return using TurboTax?

You can, but it is not easy.  

You would first have to recreate her original return exactly as it was filed.  Then go through the process of filing the return, selecting to file by mail so that it won't actually electronically file the return.  Then, you can begin to amend it.  

If you are using TurboTax Online, you will also be paying the TurboTax fee for preparing the original return.  A separate account will also need to be created to prevent overwriting your tax return information.

The best course of action may be to wait for the accountant to be available.
