Do you have a copy of the 2020 return? And what do you mean by "my tax preparer"? Did you pay someone? Or was it a friend or family member?
If the return was not filed at all, then the only way to file a 2020 return now is by mail. It has to be signed and dated in ink.

Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
