Federal taxes paid for prior year taxes are never deductible on a federal tax return.

@toolatesmart1 You need to be more specific. If you mean the fed audited you and you had to pay federal taxes related to a prior year, then no. If the state audits you, then if you itemize, the interview will ask you about taxes related to a prior years return paid. You would only benefit if you are itemizing and they are state or local taxes.
