Can anyone tell me if i can change my dependent status after i already filed? I didn't realize my parents claimed me on their taxes.

If you have already filed your tax return and it was accepted by the IRS, you will need to file an amended tax return (form 1040X) to change your filing status as a dependent.  See the FAQ below for how to file an amended return for 2018.  Note that amended returns must be printed and mailed, as they cannot be e-filed.

I have the same question. But does a dependent need to amend if they are only changing the dependent of another status? Nothing else on the return changes and the end result is the same. Also there is no option in 2018 to make that change.
