What happened? What was the error? Did you receive a letter from the IRS? What did the letter say? TurboTax does not get any information from the IRS or state after you file your return so no one at TurboTax knows about your reduced refund or any notices sent to you by the IRS or state.
I did receive a notice. Line 16 was calculated by Turbo tax as -0-. IRS had a different conclusion. I was able to look up the tax table on irs.gov and confirm that the amount the IRS put in the notice matched up with the tax table amount. The IRS notice gave no other indication of errors; there were no other changes; it was simply a different tax amount on line 16. Note, this return was filed electronically. Seems to be a pretty big error by Turbotax. Really has me wondering if I need a different software for 2020.

AUDIT SUPPORT
TurboTax has a special phone number for help with IRS/state tax letters, which will be easier than going through regular Customer Support. At the page below, click on the blue button that says "Get Help from TurboTax Support". Then it will ask you what tax year is your letter. Then it will ask you what the letter concerns. Then it will show you the phone number during posted business hours.

Check to see what the value is on line 12b of your form 1040.
IF that $$ amount is the same as what the IRS indicates is your tax....then, in order for TTX to have a zero on line 16, there would have to be a value on line 13b which zero'ed out your tax for some type of tax credit. The IRS may be having a problem with the line 13a or 13b value.
But that's a guess, since figuring the details out in this public forum are unlikely.

I guess I will go back through all of my entries to double-check. 12b was -0-. Sigh.
What year are you asking about? They changed the line numbers the last 3 years. What line are you using to look up in the tax table? Did you have any dividends? You may have entered them as qualified which might have made them be taxed as zero. What kind of income do you have?
